Hezbollah opens Latakia office, recruiting dozens of regime officers

06-05-2015: The Tehran-backed Lebanese militia Hezbollah has officially opened an office on March 8th Street in Latakia in one of the regime stronghold city’s most affluent neighbourhoods, already recruiting dozens of regime officers, troops and Alawite supporters of Bashar al-Assad’s regime.

A source close to the regime’s ‘Desert Hawks Brigade,’ led by Ayman Jaber, a relative of Assad, confirmed in a statement to Souria.net that “Hezbollah is currently working on rehabilitating the military units in the Syrian leadership and in the Shiite community in particular.”

Syrian dictator Bashar Assad said on Wednesday that troops from the regime's depleted forces would head to the outskirts of a town liberated by rebel forces to help besieged regime soldiers, attempting to justify recent 'setbacks' in the regime's military fortunes as part of normal warfare.

Rebel forces last month captured the town of Jisr al-Shughour in Idlib province, and are making steady progress towards the regime's coastal heartland of Latakia.

Major hospital in Syria's Aleppo shuts because of bombing

One of two major hospitals in Syria's violence-torn northern city, Aleppo, has suspended its operations after it was bombed at least twice last week, the international aid organization Doctors Without Borders said.

The city, once Syria's commercial hub, has been divided between government and opposition forces since mid-2012, and fighting there has raged since.

Damascus attack targets high-ranking Assad regime General

04-05-2015: 'A high-ranking Assad regime general was reportedly injured in a brazen suicide attack Monday morning in the center of the Syrian capital.

“A major-general in charge of the regime force’s Logistics and Supplies Administration was injured... by a blast that targeted him and his colleagues in the Rokken Eddine area of central Damascus,” the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported Monday.

The monitoring group added that one of the general’s colleagues was killed in attack, while two others were injured.

Rebels capture six Hezbollah mercenaries in Zebdine

Regime air force drops eight barrel bombs on Moadamiyeh in under 10 minutes

Moadamiyeh‬, ‪Damascus‬ province, 04-05-2015: Regime helicopter gunships have dropped eight TNT filled barrel bombs on western parts of Moadamiyeh in a period of less than ten minutes, resulting in a number of casualties.

This latest attack on the town, now under regime bombardment and crippling siege for over two years, coincides with the outbreak of heavy fighting between FSA forces and regime troops at the regime checkpoints.

Regime air force renews chlorine attacks on Idlib, casualties reported

The Syrian regime’s helicopters launched several raids on the cities and towns of the Idlib countryside, using barrel bombs containing toxic gases, which caused the death of at least one civilian and wounded dozens others, primarily children.

Local activists in the Idlib countryside told ARA News that Syrian regime’s helicopters dropped several barrel bombs containing toxic chlorine gas on the town of Neirab, leading to the death of Mutee Jalal, 2, in addition to injuring dozens of others.

Reports emerged Sunday suggesting that the regime of Syrian President Bashar Assad has hit a breaking point and is struggling under extreme duress.

According to the Jeddah-based Okaz daily newspaper, a sister publication of the Saudi Gazette, Syria's Intelligence services have alerted various Alawite families in Damascus that it deems important to vacate their residences and arrive in Latakia in 48 hours.
